What the guidance actually asks of the building, standard by standard. Each guide answers the questions an owner, a practice manager or an architect asks before a project starts, quotes the requirement from the NHS England, HSE or legislation source it comes from, and links to that source.

HTM 01-05
HTM 01-05 Dental Decontamination Room Layout
HTM 01-05 asks every dental practice to keep a one-way, dirty-to-clean flow of instruments, by physical or temporal separation. For best practice it asks for decontamination in a separate room or rooms, clean and dirty kept apart, used only for decontamination and entered only by the staff doing it.

HTM 03-01
HTM 03-01 Operating Theatre Ventilation Outside the NHS
HTM 03-01 is NHS England’s guidance on specialised ventilation, and for an operating theatre it sets the air-change rate, the pressure cascade, temperature and humidity ranges, the controls and independent validation. It is not mandatory, but departures should provide safety not less than following it, so private and veterinary theatres are built to it.
